Abstract

Forest products industries are heavily rawmaterial‑oriented. Transportation of logs and other wood raw materials is the major factor in location of the processing plant. Progress in technology has changed considerably the locational pattern of these plants. While the orientation to the sources of raw material is still relevant the developments in transport and energy technology have put emphasis on easy access to foreign markets over seas. A graphic model of the spatial development in the locational pattern of forest products industries is presented.
